Both sugar containing and diet drinks have a low ph. Excessive intake of these acidic beverages can cause tooth senstitivity around the gum line. Sugar containing prodicts such as candies, brewing mints, chewing tobacco, and gum are often placed in the same location in your mouth. The sugar content of these products combined with the debris from your mouthcan often initiate tooth demineralization, sensitivity, and caries Tartar containing toothpastes containing pyrophosphates can also cause sensitivity along the gum line in some people.
